High
Tech executives are teaming with politicians and restaurateurs
to create an upscale night spot in a warehouse in the
heart of Tysons Corner's technology hub.
The eCITIE Restaurant Cafe and Bar on Tyco Road
opens May 24 inside what looks like and old airplane hangar
where steel beams create a New York-style chic design.
It appears to be the technology version of a neighborhood
pub.
"It's a place to hang out," said Jeff Lubore,
a high-tech exec who has recently retired into a venture
capital career.
Leaders of tech giants- such as Global
Internet Working Inc., Sideware Corp.,
Benchmark Communications, and Net2000 Communications-
are part of a investment group backing this operation
where billboard-sized signs emblazoned with web site addresses
cover a 45-foot-high-walls. "It's like driving into a
city," said Stephen Thomas of the entry. When you
step in, the work of a Las Vegas lighting director is
readily apparent.
There's a huge Malibu bar, a dance floor, a sushi bar
with its own chefs, and two more formal eating areas-
one suspended high above by beams and accessible by catwalks.
The restaurant is reminiscent of the classic restaurants
and clubs in New York city in the mid-'70's to early '80's"
Stephen Thomas said, reciting the words on the restaurant's
Web site.
Diners and drinkers must use valet parking because parking
is spread all along the other warehouse buildings that
are landmarks for this part of Tysons Corner, squeezed
between Dulles Toll Road and Route 7.
